On Friday 24th September St John the Baptist’s Parish Hall in Burnley played host to a CAFOD Quiz Night. The quiz night was being held to mark the 50th Anniversary of the first Fast Day and had been organised by the North East (NE) Area CAFOD Action Team (CAT), with the generous help of St John the Baptist’s CAFOD Group.

The quiz night raised funds for CAFOD’s vital development work around the world, as in Rwanda, the focus of this year’s Harvest Fast Day. CAFOD is working with partner organisations in Rwanda helping people like Jeanne, now aged 18 who lost both her parents in the mass killings. They are providing continuing support for communities in Rwanda to heal the terrible effects of the 1994 Genocide of almost 1 million people.

The NE Area CAT hope to hold another fundraiser early next year, however, before that members of the team will be meeting up at the CAT Day at Our Lady of Grace Parish Hall, Prestwich, Manchester on Saturday 13th November. This day is an opportunity for the 6 Area CATs to meet up and share the experiences of the first 9 months of their formation and to receive updates from the CAFOD Salford staff. Anybody interested in learning more about the CAFOD Salford CATs can attend the day at Our Lady of Grace, just off Bury New Road (A56) and on the X43/X44 (Witch Way) and X40/X41 (Lancashire Way) bus routes. Please contact the CAFOD Salford Office for further details: salford@cafod.org.uk.

A big thank you to everybody who supported the quiz night and especially to those who helped on the night to make it a success. Thanks to Mike and Greg for a very enjoyable quiz. Greg and Mike offer their services free of charge to any group who would like to organise a quiz night to raise funds for CAFOD, please contact the office for further details: 0161 705 0605 or salford@cafod.org.uk.
