A Walk in the Park 2011- Run for Lives

St Josephs Todmorden Team at the start in 2010

CAFOD Salford’s annual “A Walk in the Park” fundraiser for 2011 will take place on Sunday 8th May at 1pm. The event takes place around the beautiful grounds of Heaton Park , Prestwich, Manchester. Last year participants raised over £3,000, the fundraising focus was water projects. This year we’re asking people to “run for lives” and the target for 2011 will be £4,000 to fund a health clinic for 1 year.

We were delighted with the response to our Walk in the Park event last year – with more than 100 participants, young and old, walkers and runners taking part. Many families took on the challenge together and one parish group came all the way from Todmorden.  “The atmosphere was great at the start of the course, especially as I was with my family and fellow parishioners. The thought of raising money for CAFOD and helping poor people around the world really spurred us on,” said Julie Wadsworth, the CAFOD Parish Contact for St Joseph’s.

The 2010 event was our fifth annual Walk in the Park and the event has gone from strength to strength, building each year – we hope this year will be even more successful as it is a great way to burn off those Easter eggs or get ready for the Great Manchester 10k Run.
