The Final Whistle

Ss Michael & John celebrate with the trophy

On May 18th CAFOD Salford, with great support from St Augustine’s High School Billington, held a sponsored football tournament for the 10 primary feeder schools of St Augustine’s.

There was a great atmosphere on the day with all the children cheering and the games played were wonderful to watch.  One of our Key Volunteers, Fred Uttley, was there to watch and help present the certificates for those involved in the Final.

The event raised £1085.09p for which we would like to send out sincere thanks to all involved especially Mr Tom Holt, Head of Sport at St Augustine’s, and all the young people who took part. Our congratulations to Ss Michael & John Primary of Clitheroe who won the tournament and received a cup sponsored by Larmenier Retirement Village.

A special word of thanks also to St John’s Primary at Padiham who really got into the spirit of the fundraising and held their own mini-tournament raising £655 – amazing!

Well done and thanks to all involved! If you feel inspired to fundraise for CAFOD please check out the CAFOD fundraising webpage: http://www.cafod.org.uk/get-involved/fundraising or contact the CAFOD Salford Office: salford@cafod.org.uk.
