Almost 30 CAFOD Salford supporters went down to London on Saturday 28th January for the 50th anniversary mass at Westminster Cathedral to join with almost 2000 others. It was a truly splendid occasion despite some of our supporters being held up on the train, meaning they had no time to come to Romero House. Those of us who made it there, saw the new eco-friendly building, with its energy saving devices and fantastic views all over the city from the Pavillion at the top of the building.
There were 17 Bishops at the mass, including our own, Bishop Brain and there were pictures brought upto the altar showing various people involved in the 5 decades of CAFOD’s life. An African choir sang and played drums beautifully and the congregation joined in wholeheartedly. It was a beautiful liturgy.
We had tea and biscuits afterwards and our Bishop commented that he had not seen so many smiling faces in one place for a long time!
