A Journey with CAFOD – Liturgy to mark 50th Anniversary

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of CAFOD, back in 1962 the Conference of Bishops of England & Wales established CAFOD as the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England & Wales, building on the first Fast Day which had been set up by a dedicated, inspirational group of catholic women in 1960. To mark this special year, here in the North East of the Diocese of Salford, the NE Area CAFOD Action Team (CAT) will be holding a Liturgy of Prayer and Reflection at St Mary’s Parish Hall in Burnley on Saturday 10th March at 10.15am. The hall is situated behind the church and accessed by car from Todmorden Road, there is ample parking next to the hall. The postcode for anybody using a satellite navigation system is BB10 4AU.

The Liturgy will be followed by a short presentation on the current CAFOD campaign “Thirst for Change”, which will be an opportunity for people to discover how CAFOD is asking David Cameron and the British Government to lead the world in demanding clean water and sanitation for all. The proceedings will end before noon so attendees, if they so wish, can go to Mass at St Mary’s at 12 o’clock.

Could you please advertise this event in your parish newsletter and invite any interested parishioners or friends. I have attached a poster which you can download and print to display in your local parishes and schools. We do hope you can make it on the day to mark this special year for CAFOD.
