Pupils from four local schools at the Harvest Fast Day Mass

This year’s Harvest Fast Day was held in St Richard’s Church in Longsight, Manchester and attended by 140 people.  These included children and staff from four neighbouring schools: St Mary’s, St Richard’s and Sacred Heart RC Primary Schools and St Peter’s RC High School; along with parishioners from St Richard’s and nearby parishes.

Fr Dever celebrated a beautiful Mass reminding the children of CAFOD’s work in Sierra Leone. Fr Dever shared with the congregation the story of Mohammad, whose family is making a future for themselves with support from CAFOD’s partner Caritas Kenema, farming fields once deserted as swamp land after diamond mining in the area.  The children prepared and read out the readings of the day, the bidding prayers and led the Offertory procession with St Richard’s Choir leading us in singing.  A wonderful occasion!  Many thanks to you all!
