Steve Burrowes, Community Participation Co-Ordinator is writing about the extremely talented young people from ‘Safe Ambition’ in Sacred Heart Parish, Gorton performing the 1st of 6 events for CAFOD, in the Diocese of Salford.
Bernie Slater and her team of volunteers have arranged for ‘Safe Ambition’ to perform at Sacred Heart, Kingsway, Rochdale, OL16 5BX, to help them raise funds for CAFOD’s water, sanitation and renewable energy projects in Africa as part on their, on-going, Lent appeal.
‘Safe Ambition’ are members of the ‘Safe Ambition Youth Music Project’, which began in 2011, run and co-ordinated by Allan Donoghue, alongside a team of volunteers. The project is based in Sacred Heart Parish, Gorton – where a recording studio, built with money from the National Crime Agency, enable the young people of Gorton to explore and develop their considerable musical talent and ability. The project also has two vocal coaches, Dan McDwyer and Bea Marshall, who are classically trained Opera singers from the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music. The project is one of many initiatives, run in the parish, with a particular focus on engaging young people.
‘Safe Ambition’ will be performing a medley of their own songs and familiar songs from the 70’s and 80’s.
There will be a bar and the obligatory raffle !
Please come along to support the event.
If you like what you see and hear ‘Safe Ambition’ will be more than happy to perform at your own CAFOD event ! For more information about booking ‘Safe Ambition’ and to hear a sample of their incredible music please contact :
