Florence from Zambia who turned little fish into big fish and was the focus for Lent 2017.

CAFOD Salford is delighted to be hosting the visit of Mwila Malumbi, our representative in Zambia – who oversees Sr Yvonne’s ‘Big Fish’ project which helped Florence pictured above and others like her.

This will be a great opportunity for us to find out about some of the projects Mwila is involved with and for her to find out what our supporters and volunteers do here in Salford, that enables her team to do such brilliant work with our partners on our behalf. Continue reading

Sister Yvonne Mwalula Mwila is from Zambia and is the Mother Superior of the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Mbala, northern Zambia. She devotes her time to some of the poorest, most vulnerable people in Zambia helping them to make a living as well as training them with new skills.

She says of her mission: “The founder of our congregation told us: ‘First sisters, go to places that nobody wants to go. Go and save the poor and the vulnerable. Do what others don’t want to do – especially if it is for the poor and the most vulnerable. The moment you forget Christ and the poor, you cease to exist.’”
